About This Course

In this course you will learn about the spirituality and history of Eucharistic Ministry in order to bring Holy Communion to Catholic residents in hospitals and nursing homes, as well as pray with interfaith residents. This course begins with the roots of the Eucharist in the Old Testament and focuses on Jesus’ teachings in the Gospel of John as the historical and spiritual guide to our ministry. Through understanding who it is we bring as EMHC, we will learn how to care for Him as we minister to those in nursing homes and hospitals. This course will help you prepare yourself before you visit the residents, to know what to expect during a visit with a resident, and go over special situations that may occur during a visit. After the training you will meet with the Eucharistic Ministry Coordinator in your area to answer any question and discuss service placement. Each facility will also have training on their protocols for safety and patient privacy. Thank you for joining this beautiful ministry!
